Experience
Senior Software Engineer / Team Lead
Summary
What I did
- Lead a team of 4-5 engineers through sprint planning, design and code reviews, hiring, and releases.
- Onboarded 6 engineers.
- Extended the GraphQL API behind the product's monitoring screens: task groups, DNS (CNAME) targets, alert severity thresholds, time-bound tasks, input validation, and monitor-health queries over BigQuery, all with per-customer data isolation and operation-level OPA permissions.
- Built a multi-tenant Notification Manager (Go, GraphQL, PostgreSQL) with email (SMTP), SMS (Twilio), and webhook channels, templates with placeholders, ordered reminder and escalation sequences, scheduled sends, and per-recipient delivery logs.
- Covered it with Postman integration tests.
- Built Fleet Manager features that provision and onboard cloud VMs and stream live job status to the UI over GraphQL subscriptions.
- Added secure M2M-authenticated agent heartbeats.
- Moved backend messaging to NATS JetStream, cutting latency from hundreds of milliseconds to under 20 ms.
- Rebuilt the alerting pipeline as a Go service that emits state changes in 10-20 ms.
- Added end-to-end tracing (OpenTelemetry) across APIs, queues, and WebSockets, which cut random failures by 70-80%.
- Built a Cisco Meraki integration (paginated, rate-limit-aware REST client) and a pluggable credential system with encrypted storage for third-party API keys.
- Managed multiple services and custom infrastructure including the OpenTelemetry pipeline, Zitadel, and NATS.
- Maintained persistent services for live connections with VM nodes using Chisel.
- Developed a fleet manager service that runs natively on VMs to send heartbeats every 15 seconds and synchronize with a desired state from the fleet service.
- Implemented a retry mechanism within the fleet manager agent to ensure the VM reaches its desired state even after failures.
- Owned the entire worker systems pipeline.
Results
- Revamped the VM provisioning process by replacing a manual SSH/SCP-based workflow with an automated fleet manager service.
- Cut latency from hundreds of milliseconds to under 20 ms by moving to NATS JetStream.
- Cut random failures by 70-80% by adding end-to-end tracing with OpenTelemetry.
Senior Software Engineer (Team Lead)
Summary
What I did
- Led a team of 4-5 engineers and onboarded 7-8 engineers.
- Owned planning, reviews, client communication, and releases.
- Created the customer portal backend (Go, GraphQL, PostgreSQL), covering: SSH key management backed by Secret Manager, automated server onboarding with live status updates over GraphQL subscriptions (WebSockets), network (vWAN) creation, editing, and teardown with CIDR validation.
- Built a Node.js (Express, Handlebars) installer service that generates per-customer installers asynchronously, plus Node.js Cloud Functions, including a GraphQL API for firewall rule management.
- Automated customer onboarding with Cloud Workflows, so the portal tracks each validation step in real time.
- Built the monitoring dashboards (Prometheus, Grafana) for a platform designed for 20,000 live endpoints.
- Managed multiple services and custom infrastructure including the OpenTelemetry pipeline, Zitadel, and NATS.
- Maintained persistent services for live connections with VM nodes using Chisel.
Results
- Designed monitoring dashboards for a platform supporting 20,000 live endpoints.
Software Engineer
Summary
What I did
- Built super-admin and admin dashboards and in-app notifications in React with the Context API.
- Implemented sign-up and sign-in with Amazon Cognito user pools through Amplify Auth in React, with user groups mapped to roles (super admin, admin) and identity pools issuing temporary AWS credentials.
- Added real-time push notifications (AWS SNS, Lambda) and daily email digests (Amazon SES, Managed Airflow).
- Wrote and maintained the serverless AWS Lambda backend, with least-privilege IAM roles for each function.
- Built comment threads for lab engineers, with visibility enforced through Cognito groups and token claims.
- Used Terraform for resources outside AWS Amplify so dev, staging, and production stayed consistent.
- Accessed development and staging environments to support customer testing of new features.
Results
- Supported around 50-60 major pharmaceutical manufacturers, including Pfizer.
- Managed terabytes of test data stored in S3.
