Marketing Managers

About the role

You will own the outreach and communication strategy for assistive technology projects, translating complex HCI research into accessible narratives for the public and potential partners. Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), you will manage the lab's presence and help bridge the gap between our technical developments in mental health and elderly care and their real-world application. You'll work closely with researchers and developers to ensure our human-centered design mission is effectively communicated to the LUMS community and beyond. The interview process consists of an initial screening followed by a PI Interview.

What you'll do

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns for assistive technology tools and research findings.
  • Manage the lab's social media presence and digital communication channels to highlight project milestones.
  • Draft press releases, blog posts, and newsletters detailing the impact of our HCI interventions.
  • Coordinate with the design and development teams to create visual assets for outreach materials.
  • Organize lab events, workshops, and demonstrations to showcase assistive solutions to stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on the engagement and reach of various communication initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of non-technical summaries for research publications and grant applications.

What you'll bring

  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience producing engaging digital content for academic or technology-focused organizations.
  • Proven ability to grow and manage professional social media accounts across multiple platforms.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to simplify complex technical or research concepts.
  • Experience planning and executing workshops, seminars, or product demonstrations.
  • Familiarity with the HCD lifecycle and how to communicate user-centric values.

Nice to have

  • Ability to use Photoshop or Illustrator to create basic marketing graphics.
  • Experience building relationships with media outlets or community stakeholders.
  • Comfortable drafting summaries of research papers or technical system features.

What we offer

  • Mentorship: Direct guidance from faculty and senior researchers, often including support for future graduate school applications.
  • State-of-the-Art Equipment: Access to cutting-edge tools including VR headsets, specialized usability labs, and high-performance GPUs.
  • Flexible Working Hours: Accommodating schedules, particularly for students balancing academic commitments.
  • Research Impact: Opportunities to contribute to high-impact publications and real-world assistive technology projects.
