Summary

Analysed the bank's settlement process within the Banking Operations team by working alongside the reconciliation staff to understand the manual reconciliation of channel statements against core-banking statements. Converted this manual process into an automated solution called Reconix from requirement gathering through development and up to module deployment for six settlement channels. Worked with the operations team all through, improving the matching logic based on actual settlement data and handling edge scenarios encountered while testing. Made the presentation to the bank management regarding deployment of this solution in a controlled parallel-run prior to manual retirement.

What I did

Automated the 1Link channel which previously took 5-6 hours of manual effort daily.
Deployed the system on-premise to a local server to handle confidential bank data.

Results

Built Reconix solo by working directly with employees to automate manual reconciliation steps.
2nd Position & PKR 50,000 Award - Internship project evaluation
Reduced reconciliation time from 7-8 hours daily to 2-3 minutes.
Automated a manual process that previously required two people.
Replaced a 47-step manual Excel process (32 issuer steps and 15 acquirer steps) with an automated system.

Reconix - Automated Reconciliation Dashboard

Built a full-stack reconciliation platform (Next.js + FastAPI) that ingests channel and core-banking statements, normalizes inconsistent file formats, and matches transactions automatically. Designed configurable per-channel matching engines for 1Link, HBL Konnect, BISP, Ufone, and Telenor, with rule sets covering reversals, duplicates, and multi-record settlement cases. Added predictive analytics and a locally hosted LLM chatbot (Ollama) for anomaly detection and natural-language querying, keeping all transaction data on-premise.
