AI Engineer — Agent Systems

You will own the design and implementation of agentic workflows for a local-first AI platform where privacy and verifiable accuracy are the core promises. Reporting to the CTO, you will build reliable B2B document intelligence systems that run entirely on-device for data-sensitive professionals. Your work ensures that small local models deliver high-quality results through structured decoding and sophisticated pipeline design.

What you'll do

• Design and build end-to-end agent workflows for B2B products.
• Own major subsystems from initial architecture through to final shipping.
• Develop evaluation infrastructure including golden sets and ablation studies.
• Optimize local models using speculative decoding and constrained output techniques.
• Implement multi-turn conversation state and context handling for chat interfaces.
• Collaborate directly with founders to make high-level architectural decisions.
• Embed into client communication channels to provide direct technical updates.

What you'll bring

• 2+ years of relevant experience
• Experience building robust backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Production experience building multi-step LLM systems with complex retrieval loops.
• Proficiency in enforcing correctness through structured decoding and schema validation.
• Ability to design reliable agent harnesses that integrate external tools and failure handling.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with local inference runtimes and optimizing models for consumer hardware.
• Experience implementing embedding pipelines with combined vector and full-text search.
• Exposure to systems programming or building cross-platform desktop applications.
• Knowledge of model compression techniques to fit LLMs within strict RAM budgets.
