Summary

Worked on practical software and AI engineering projects involving Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), LLM inference, and distributed computing. Developed and experimented with PDF-based RAG pipelines for document processing, semantic retrieval, and LLM-powered question answering. Worked with Llama.cpp and Llama 3.2 1B Instruct (GGUF) to explore local LLM inference and distributed inference across multiple machines. Configured a distributed computing environment using Tailscale to enable communication between systems for remote inference workloads. Explored AI hardware and inference architectures, including CPU, GPU, TPU, and NPU, and their roles in AI workloads. Worked with YOLO11n for road-damage detection, including model training and experimentation on datasets containing potholes and different types of road cracks. Gained practical experience in Linux, networking, model deployment, debugging, and AI system development.

What I did

  • Explored using Tailscale to connect machines and llama.cpp RPC to distribute inference workloads.
  • Built a distributed inference setup using llama.cpp with the Llama 3.2 1B Instruct model in GGUF format.
